A leading university in Boston, MA is seeking a Contract Specialist to join our team. In this contract role, administer the overall contract management process, including facilitating, developing, reviewing, negotiating, and tracking of contractual arrangements for goods and/or services between the University and third party suppliers. Responsibilities for the Contract Specialist:
  • Coordinate the management of contracts between the University and third party suppliers
  • Review terms and conditions of all potential procurement contracts to ensure the University is adequately protected from risk of loss
  • Prepare correspondence to vendors and campus units regarding terms and conditions
  • Assist with preparing legal and compliance requirements for RFPs
  • Interact daily with campus units, suppliers, and the Office of General Counsel
  • Support tracking open, pending and renewing contracts
  • Alert the relevant campus unit and supplier of coming contract terminations or renewals
  • Coordinate the development and management of contract authoring and automated approval workflows using the University’ s eProcurement contracting tool
  • Serve as the custodian of the University’ s database of contracts for the purchase of goods/services (via eProcurement contracting tool)
  • Coordinate development of policies and procedures for contract development, processing, and signature authority
  • Support the training and education of campus units on compliance policies and procedures
  • Work with the Sourcing and Procurement management team and OGC to investigate, formulate and execute plans to continuously improve the contracting process
  • In partnership with OGC, train Sourcing and Procurement staff on contract basics to refine and continuously develop the skills necessary to conduct independent reviews
Requirements for the Contract Specialist:
  • Bachelor’ s degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in a Procurement function with exposure across a breadth of category types is preferred
  • Experience with ARIBA contracts is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with other eProcurement tools preferred
  • Experience with designing and implementing eProcurement contracting processes is preferred, including automated approval workflows and contract authoring
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
