A dynamic Life Sciences organization in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Controller to take them to the next level. The Controller will play a critical role in shaping and building the finance and accounting functions for the organization. Responsibilities for the Controller:
  • Manage QuickBooks, Accounts Payable and Payroll (ADP) processing
  • Perform month end close on a GAAP accrual basis and ensure all accounts are reconciled
  • Manage the annual audit process, tax submissions and 409a valuations
  • Lead person for banking relationships for operating and investment accounts, credit cards and working capital debt lines
  • Responsible for vendor negotiation and management, driving cost controls and efficiencies across the organization
  • Lead the budget and forecast process with the management team
  • Report monthly and quarterly financial results to the management team and Board of Directors
  • Assist management with offer letters and new hire salaries
  • Work with benefit brokers to offer employees market employee benefits
  • Create and maintain a stock option budget
  • Assist the company with recruiting new employees
  • Prepare financial statements and capitalization table
  • Responsible for financial presentations for Board meetings
  • Lead person for equity financing due diligence efforts
  • Implement and continuously improve policies and procedures 
  • Responsible for system implementations (accounting, stock options, procurement)
  • Assist with Human Resources (offer letters, salaries, stock options, recruiting, performance reviews)
  • Interface with legal counsel, investors and board of directors
  • Manage cap table
  • Manage facilities
Requirements for the Controller:
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Quickbook experience
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
