Our client in Boston, MA is seeking a Director of Institutional Relations to join their team. As the Director of Institutional Relations, you will be responsible for the B2B and B2C direct sales functions of the Study Abroad business. The Director of Institutional Relations collaborates closely with the Enrollment, Academic Affairs, Health/Safety/Security, and Finance teams to plan and provide a best-in-field experience for students interested in Study Abroad programs from application through to arriving on one of the many programs abroad. Responsibilities for the Director of Institutional Relations:
  • Meet with clients regularly to develop trust-based relationships across the university/college with offices such as Study Abroad, Provost/Deans, Student Affairs, Academic Advisors, and Career Services
  • Understand the client’ s organizational structures, industry and business drivers
  • Through consultative engagement works with the team and respective clients to understand their internationalization strategies
  • Analyze historical enrollment data and industry trends and develops a plan/package of suggested programs, financial incentives, and participant engagement solutions to meet the institution’ s goals
  • Lead Institutional Relations field staff to execute against those plans relative to their respective clients and portfolios
  • Identify business opportunities for both organic growth and cross-sale of other products and works within the organization to develop, position, close and implement these
  • Responsible for client retention and manages MOUs, proposals, and benchmarking exercises
  • Oversee contract negotiations for existing clients
  • Responsible for contributing to pricing strategy, contract preparation and signing
  • Work with members of the institutional relations team providing guidance and mentoring to ensure client satisfaction
  • Responsible for managing an internal call team that is focused on direct to student sales via lead management and nurture for each sales cycle
  • Develop the call campaign strategies and appropriate scripting and establishment of metrics
Requirements for the Director of Institutional Relations:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree or equivalent
  • 10 years of sales and marketing experience
  • Track record of sales growth and strong client management experience
  • Knowledge of higher and/or international education preferred
  • Business acumen; strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Travel – 25 – 40% of time (Domestic travel)
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
