Responsibilities for the Medical Front Desk Receptionist:
  • Answer all calls
  • Screen and route telephone calls in accordance with established office policy
  • Schedule, reschedule and cancel appointments, while making every reasonable effort to accommodate patients and provider needs
  • Apply knowledge of patient insurance and managed care plans to obtain referrals to specialists
  • Explain processes as needed to patients to help them understand efforts to meet their needs
  • Respond to patients and others requests in a timely manner
  • Obtain accurate registration, demographic and insurance information
  • Collect co-payments from patients at point of service
  • Responsible for accurately documenting and reconciling monies at the end of each business day per established protocol
  • Obtain referrals in accordance with established office policy
  • Provide appropriate documentation for fiscal and referral compliance
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information as needed
  • Prepare medical records for clinical sessions
  • Provide complete information, often obtained from PCP as required, prior to the visit
  • File paperwork into patient charts in an efficient, organized manner
  • Follow through on a wide variety of information requests, paying close attention to detail
  • Use standard office equipment and maintains supply inventory
Requirements for the Medical Front Desk Receptionist:
  • Associate’ s Degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as Administrative Assistant in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with all levels of personnel including management, physicians, staff and patients
  • Experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and similar appointment scheduling application
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
