Our client in Brookline, MA is looking for an Assistant Director of Content Development to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, writing, filming, producing, gathering, organizing, and editing of information for publication on the company website, social media, printed materials, event marketing, and patient outreach. This includes ensuring that all content is updated frequently and as new information becomes available. As the Assistant Director of Content Development, you will also work closely with the Executive Director and Special Projects Manager to develop promotional content, and make sure that the website and social media present a cohesive message that is consistent with the company brand. Responsibilities for the Assistant Director of Content Development:
  • Ensure that the company website is up-to-date including making sure all dates, contact information, staff, and board member information is correct; refreshing content on a frequent and regular basis; working with other staff to develop new content; etc.
  • Responsible for the company’ s social media presence including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn
  • Work with the Web Developer to make sure the website is user friendly for patients, healthcare providers, and the general public
  • Working with the staff, Scientific Advisory Committee, and Board to develop new content for articles and videos
  • Oversee development and publication of the company Action Initiatives in leading medical journals
  • Responsible for the bi-monthly newsletter and the twice monthly email videos
  • Responsible for the design of all promotional, educational, and written correspondence
  • Work closely with the Special Projects Coordinator to develop marketing plans and oversee the creation of marketing materials, invitations, and collateral for all events
  • Work with Staff and Board of Directors to develop new print outreach and educational materials
  • Ensure that all information on print materials is kept up-to-date and facilitate updates as needed
  • Collaborate with external partners and consultants on special projects
  • Assist with general office duties, such as ordering supplies, ensuring that the equipment is kept in good working order, responding to inquiries from patients, healthcare providers, and the general public
  • Provide on-site support at fundraising and educational events
  • Provide support to the Executive Director as needed, particularly around grant writing and submission
Requirements Assistant Director of Content Development:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Communications, Health Communications, Biology, or healthcare/science related field
  • 3-5 years of prior experience working and/or volunteering in a healthcare non-profit or related field, preferably in a writing or content creation role
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment, tact, and discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively under multiple deadline pressures
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of partners
  • Knowledge of Mac computers and software including Adobe and MS Office; ability to learn new programs as needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite CS4 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver), and WordPress
  • Knowledge of using web and social media for marketing communications and fundraising purposes
  • Knowledge of issues related to thrombosis and related cardiovascular diseases, healthcare education, and patient advocacy preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and facts highly desirable
  • Solid organizational skills needed including the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Able to work well in a team as well as an individual
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
