Our client in Somerville, MA is seeking a Benefits Consultant to join their team. In this contract role, you will be responsible for the administration of all company-wide retirement benefits, which include defined-benefit, defined contribution, nonqualified and supplemental retirement plans, as well as retiree medical plans. Responsibilities for the Benefits Consultant:
  • Administer retirement plans including cash balance defined-benefit plans, defined contribution plans and retiree medical plans
  • Calculate benefit amounts in accordance with plan documentation
  • Counsel employees with regard to benefit amounts and payment options
  • Process benefit payments and changes
  • Provide accurate documentation regarding transactions
  • Interpret plan documents
  • Conduct employee information sessions
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations, as well as other policies and procedures
  • Support the Retirement Plans Manager as necessary
Requirements for the Benefits Consultant:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in pension plan administration
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Strong customer service, communication and analytical skills
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
