Our client is seeking a Benefits Manager to join their support center in Charlestown, MA. In this role, you will manage and administer the Company’ s benefits programs and participate in the evaluation and design of those programs, working with their third-party service providers. You will manage and administer Worker’ s Compensation and Unemployment Claims, Leaves of Absence, and 401(K) plan, working with their third-party service providers. Responsibilities for the Benefits Manager:
  • Assist with the development of, and manage the administration of, benefits programs, including, without limitation, group medical and 401(K) plans, and help to ensure the programs are competitive and cost effective
  • Process periodic compliance filings and participate in, respond to and manage annual audits
  • Implement new benefits plans and changes; prepare materials to communicate new benefits plans and changes; conduct employee meetings/webinars and coordinate employee enrollment
  • Provide day-to-day consultation and support to employees on benefits and general HR matters
  • Stay abreast of legal requirements and best practices applicable to benefits and HR matters
  • Develop team members by conducting regular evaluations against defined expectations
  • Maintain an exemplary level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues
  • File and track necessary paperwork, follow up with insurance carriers and partners, and process payments
  • Manage all facets of unemployment claim activity on behalf of the Company
  • Manage COBRA notifications, reconcile premium payments for COBRA recipients, and, complete accurate and timely paperwork
  • Manage 401(K) compliance and respond to inquiries.  Participate on the 401(K) committee
  • Manage the HRIS and perform HRIS maintenance and data entry; generate reports, and act as department liaison on HRIS projects
  • Manage the reconciliation of monthly HR administration invoices
  • Organize and maintain files and documentation of active and terminated partners
  • Perform processing duties including, but not limited to, business correspondence, record keeping, employment verification, reference checking, filing system, invoicing, etc.
  • Assist VP HR and Legal Counsel with employee relations investigations, preparation of responses to EEOC charges and complaints, lawsuits, and other agency and legal proceedings
  • Identify and proactively raise organizational issues and trends; diagnose processes, structures and approach; recommend alternatives for improved effectiveness
  • Drive and oversee the analysis of benefits survey data
Requirements for the Benefits Manager:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in a benefits or HR discipline
  • Current Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) accreditation a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS required; ADP Workforce Now experience highly preferred
  • 3+ years’ progressive business experience in a benefits role
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with the design, delivery and evaluation of benefits projects
  • Intermediate knowledge of employment law and government regulations
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of benefits, and processing worker’ s compensation and unemployment claims, leaves of absence, and 401(K) plan administration
  • Hands-on management style that emphasizes direct involvement in day-to-day benefits and HR functions
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues and alert management to potential areas of liability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise reports and presentations that are understandable by the target audience
  • Demonstrated initiative; along with being results oriented and entrepreneurial minded
  • Project management experience and ability to manage on-going multiple priorities
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups and foster a cooperative work environment
  • Proficiency in speaking, understanding and reading Spanish a plus
  • Ability to manage confidential information and maintain its integrity
  • Strong computer skills that include proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, HRIS (ADP Workforce experience strongly preferred)
