Our client in Quincy, MA is seeking a CFO to join their team, whose responsibilities will extend beyond those of a traditional CFO. Reporting to, and working closely with the President and CEO, the CFO has primary responsibility for the fiscal stewardship of the firm. Additionally, they will serve as a true thought partner and leader with outstanding vision, working closely with the CEO and Executive team to determine best fiscal policy and practice for this company. Responsibilities for the CFO:
  • Provide expert strategic oversight and review of all financial planning for the Association including, but not limited to; cash flow, investment management and portfolio rebalancing, and real estate asset management
  • Act as senior financial advisor partnering with executive staff to develop and implement creative financial management strategies
  • Oversee the Real Estate function, evaluate and manage lease agreements for 350k square feet of tenant-occupied/company-owned lease space
  • Conduct multi-year planning and scenario analysis relating to real estate investments, budgeting and planning
  • Responsible for working with financial management staff to prepare and present budgets to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors as requested and during required board meetings
  • Manage internal control and governance process and report on such activities to the Audit Committee
  • Conduct accurate review of 990 Audits for the Association
  • Partner with Human Resources function to plan and execute budgetary activities related to headcount, incentive planning, annual benefit review, and annual pension audits (DC and DB)
  • Lead and manage direct reports and subordinate teams
  • Utilize understanding of financial technology to work directly with IT staff in order to manage all financial and accounting software and business systems including JD Edwards

Requirements for the CFO:
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of broad finance and accounting experience
  • 5 years as a CFO or equivalent, in private, public and/or non-profit sectors
  • Experience gathering and evaluating financial data and information and making realistic, thoughtful, and actionable recommendations to senior leadership
  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA is preferred
  • CPA highly preferred
  • Significant GAAP, non-profit accounting including 990 Audit
  • Understanding alpha, beta, sharpe ratios etc.
  • Audit committee experience
  • Expert knowledge utilizing Microsoft Excel and JD Edwards
  • In-depth understanding of Defined Benefit Pension Plans, and Defined Benefit Contribution 403(b)/401(k) plans
  • Substantial experience managing a strong and diverse portfolio of investments on a large scale
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
