A healthcare organization in Somerville, MA is seeking a Contracts Manager to join their team. Responsibilities for the Contracts Manager:
  • Work with Purchasing, Content Management Conversion Team, MMIS, Accounts Payable, Business Operations, Clinicians and other hospital end users to identify opportunities of cost savings or clinical value
  • Negotiate cost, terms and conditions with suppliers using requests for proposals, negotiations and analyses covering both product and capital equipment needs
  • Provide summary of proposals from multiple suppliers to customers in a clear, concise and accurate manner providing all supporting information
  • Draft contractual agreements, amendments and addenda, letters of termination and other business related notifications to vendors with input from legal counsel when applicable
  • Develop, negotiate, and execute major multi-year, multi-million dollar agreements for the system in accordance with accepted strategies and plans
  • Develop and operationalize contracts with major manufacturers and distributors to reduce costs, eliminate inventory redundancy, improve upon supply chain processes, and manage resources and item conversions within the system
  • Serve as a liaison and ambassador within the institution 
  • Utilize GPO contracting relationships to enhance value to participating members
  • Consult with leaders and management from throughout the system to provide expert advice regarding, contracting and marketplace conditions
  • Support and implement new programs occurring hospital-wide such as productivity improvement, downsizing, refurbishment projects, quality initiatives, and cost major management initiatives
  • Monitors industry trends and opportunities and reassess agreements, as needed
  • Monitor all agreements to guarantee supplier obligations are met, rebates and incentives are earned, and that contract and pricing expiration dates are implemented and met
  • Work closely with entity resource staff to solicit support and input in the contracting process
  • Provide input to Corporate Contract Manager, Medical Team on all issues including but not limited to strategic direction for contracts within the portfolio, marketplace trends, GPO movement, etc.
  • Work with the Corporate Contract Manager, Medical Team, to ensure that the contracts/projects timelines are consistently achieved and include end user input and acceptance
Requirements for the Contracts Manager:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree or equivalent required, MBA preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Extensive contracting and negotiating experience (Health Care System preferred)
  • Ability to make informed decisions, manage and prioritize workload and meet deadlines independently
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
