Our prestigious client in Boston, MA is seeking a Controller to join their team. As the Controller, you will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for directing the day-to-day financial management of the firm. You will perform a variety of corporate financial functions, including financial reporting, accounting operations, payroll, accounts payable, and certain treasury activities. The position also is responsible for consolidation and analysis of various subsidiaries’ operating results. This role pays up to $150K-175K – apply today!

Responsibilities for the Controller :
  • Develop and publish policies and procedures on accounting, financial reporting, and performance measurement
  • Direct the day-to-day accounting operations to ensure timely month-end closure of accounting records
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to ensure that they are prepared in accordance with GAAP and various regulatory policies and practices
  • Ensure timely financial filings, including NASD Focus filings and submissions to the parent company to meet its regulatory filing deadlines
  • Ensure company compliance with financial disclosures and in interpreting financial results
  • Review the financial progress of the company, comparing actual results with approved plans and suggesting operating changes where appropriate
  • Direct the maintenance of the formal corporate financial records (chart of accounts, etc.) to support reporting and analysis activities
  • Direct a variety of financial duties and miscellaneous special projects
  • Direct and monitor the activities of the company’ s independent auditors
  • Manage a staff and implementing plans to develop their subordinates and provide for career paths for all employees
  • Develop direct reports for future leadership positions
Requirements for the Controller:
  • CPA or relevant Master’ s degree
  • 10+ years of financial/management experience in the areas of financial analysis, financial consolidation, and financial reporting
  • Mutual fund industry experience
  • Solid understanding of GAAP reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Previous exposure to international operational and accounting issues
  • Demonstrated experience consolidating subsidiary operations (intercompany profit elimination, transfer pricing); familiarity with foreign currency. translation/transactions
  • Previous financial reporting experience
  • Financial services industry background and accounting software/reporting tools familiarity
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
