A national nonprofit organization in Boston, MA is seeking a Development Associate to join their team on a contract basis from September through December, 2018. You will be helping to plan for the organization’ s annual dinner, which is a large event with around 1, 500 guests. Responsibilities include working with the company’ s database (Raiser’ s Edge) and general administrative support. From mid-November through December, the Development Associate will be helping to process incoming gifts and pledges from the event, and then mailing letters and certificates.

Hours and Location: The organization is located near North Station, so it is easily accessible by both the Green and Orange MBTA lines.

The schedule of this position is five days per week September through December, with hours of 9: 00am-5: 00pm

Responsibilities for the Development Associate:
  • Receiving formal database training (Raiser's Edge)
  • Making phone calls or sending emails to obtain information from sponsors or table hosts to collect the names of their guests. Updating an Excel spreadsheet to track guests’ names.
  • Entering dinner guests, using the Raiser’ s Edge events module and Event-O-Matic
  • Reformatting online dinner guest list submissions so they can be imported into Raiser’ s Edge
  • Entering actions and media items into Raiser’ s Edge
  • Preparing a weekly seating report
  • Managing on-site registration system with the Systems Manager and Development Coordinator on the night of event
  • Creating new records after the event and conducting address research
  • Working with the Systems Manager and Development Data Coordinator to produce donor acknowledgement letters and certificates, and mailing labels
  • Maintaining an Excel spreadsheet for tracking gift entries
  • Monitoring mail and email boxes daily
  • Scanning and copying documents
  • Helping with other tasks as assigned

Requirements for the Development Associate:
  • Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Raiser's Edge experience is preferred
  • Commitment to producing quality work is critical
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and professional
  • Self-driven with a clear focus on quality
  • Ability to work in a small, fast-paced, deadline-driven office setting
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
