Our client in Boston, MA is seeking a Director of Housing Operations to oversee all property management and compliance activities for organization’ s Housing locations and Supportive Housing programs. Responsibilities for the Director of Housing Operations:
  • Support housing expansion and shelter reduction strategy in combination with other departments
  • Foster a culture of effective working relationships within and between organization’ s services staff and Property Management Teams
  • Provide leadership, planning and administrative oversight to the property management department, including staff and tenants
  • Maintain oversight and management of the Property Management Software System
  • Represent the Housing Department as a lead participant in the Coordinated Entry System for the State and the City of Boston
Requirements for the Director of Housing Operations:
  • Bachelor’ s degree, Master’ s degree preferred
  • 10 years’ experience in property management involving low income tenants and/or tenants requiring enhanced social supports
  • 5-7 years’ experience managing supportive housing programs within, or in close partnership to, human service organizations delivering social supports to tenants
  • Strong history of successful management-level positions in non-profit business environment
  • Successful experience and/or licensing in property management
  • LIHTC (low income housing tax credits) and COS (certified occupancy specialist) certification
  • Experience working with populations struggling with homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse disorders, or similar social insecurities
  • Knowledge of Affordable Fair Housing Marketing Plans, property and tenant management, and issues impacting homelessness
  • Working knowledge of various city and state housing subsidies: tenant, sponsor and project based, including public housing, section 8, low income housing tax credits, and similar programs
  • An understanding of the impact of trauma on homeless and/or other vulnerable populations
  • Proven leadership, strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, take initiative, be self-directed and take direction well
  • Ability to lead and manage complex change processes across departments and divisions
  • Ability to oversee, direct, and train staff in all aspects of the Housing Operations process
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
