The Financial Analyst will report to the Finance Manager and support the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, focusing on accounting, budgeting and financial analytics. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the Finance Manager to understand and evaluate financial performance and financial issues facing the Department. Pay: $35/hour

Responsibilities for the Financial Analyst:
  • General ledger maintenance and monthly adjusting journals entries and accruals
  • Assist with the annual departmental budget development process
  • Oversight of departmental compensation review
  • Evaluate departmental full time employees (FTEs) on a monthly and ad hoc basis
  • Monthly review and analysis of actual/budget variances for all operating funds for reporting to all levels of management
  • Review and process invoices and expense reimbursements submitted to the department for payment
  • Assist with strategic analyses in support of business decision-making
  • Assist with the development and enhancement the monthly, quarterly, annual reporting packages for level of management
  • Providing financial support for departmental forecasts, analyzing key performance indicators, and providing input for operational decisions.
  • Effectively communicates and presents issues to appropriate levels of finance, management or external customers
  • Assisting with or leading special projects, which are central to improving analytical tools, internal processes, and the overall management decision process
  • Responsible for handling financial transactions in the Financial Managers absence, such as ensuring the monthly close, processing of A/P, A/R and reporting and analysis as required

Requirements for the Financial Analyst:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 3-5 years’ minimum relevant experience in healthcare or business environment that includes fiscal responsibility relating to accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost/benefit analysis
  • Knowledge of standard PHS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SRC, POLR, Document Direct, etc.) a plus
  • Excellent computer skills especially in spreadsheets and databases (and all Microsoft Office products)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including strong customer service orientation
  • Proficient in budgetary or accounting principles and practices as applicable to experience/education required, including the ability to prepare, interpret and analyze financial statements and cash flow analyses
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • E Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Exceptional judgment and discretion in interacting with constituencies on sensitive political, fiscal and confidential issues
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
