A non-profit in Boston, MA is seeking a Human Resources Director to join their team on a contract basis. As the Human Resources Director, you will be a member of the Senior Management Team and a trusted advisor who works with all levels of management to recruit and support the human resources essential to achieve the organization’ s mission, strategic goals and operational requirements. Responsibilities for the Human Resources Director:
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to develop and execute organizational strategy, staffing structure and succession planning
  • Cultivate favorable employee relations
  • Recommend, implement and monitor employee related policies, procedures, and training programs for effective management
  • Manage employee relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits administration, learning and development, etc.
  • Work directly with directors and managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
  • Identify employee relations issues; work to resolve conflicts and avert litigation
  • Recommend, implement and communicate the non-profit’ s compensation and benefits including wage and salary structure
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment law and ensure organization compliance
  • Promote safety and security for all sites and employees
  • Coordinate organization-wide activities including, all staff meetings and holiday party
  • Supervise and develop Human Resources staff
  • Maintain personnel electronic and paper records
  • Provide reports of all HR and employee activities to the President and Board of Directors 
Requirements for the Human Resources Director:
  • Passionate about animal care
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master’ s Degree in related field and professional certification including (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) highly desirable
  • 7-10 years of progressive strategic experience in Human Resources. Experience in an animal related non-profit or healthcare field preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of employee relations, talent management, and organizational development
  • An enthusiastic team player
  • Experience managing, planning and implementing projects and business support initiatives are preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, consultative and facilitation skills required
  • Possess a high level of integrity and ability to handle confidential situations without compromise
  • Ability to build effective relationships and partnerships, and lead cultural change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail
  • Experience working with diverse team in a variety of situations
  • Must maintain a professional, caring, humane and safety conscious demeanor
  • Must maintain a valid MA driver’ s license, have reliable transportation, be willing to travel between locations, and work outside of normal hours on occasion
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
