KNF&T is seeking an experienced Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join our team based in the Boston, MA office. In this role, you will focus on the administration of HR policies and procedures with a heavy emphasis on internal employee recruitment, employee relations and benefits administration.  We will consider full time or part time candidates for this position.

The Human Resources Generalist originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

As the Human Resources Generalist, you will be a part of the Management Team and will report to the CEO, as well as assist and advise company managers on Human Resources issues.

A successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in an HR Management role working in a small-mid size company, be a detail-oriented, results-driven professional with a focus on talent management, communication, discretion, and employee relations skills.



The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for all or part of these areas:
  • Recruiting and staffing logistics
  • Performance management and improvement systems

  • Employment and compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting
  • Employee orientation, development, and training
  • Policy development and documentation
  • Employee relations
  • Company-wide committee facilitation
  • Company employee communication
  • Compensation and benefits administration
  • Employee safety, welfare, wellness and health
  • Employee services and counseling

Primary Objectives:
  • Development of a superior workforce
  • Development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance
  • Personal ongoing development
  • Assist with the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Participate in Management and administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars
  • Assists to establish departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the company's strategic goals
  • Maintain employee-related databases
  • Prepare and analyze reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company
  • Prepare periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested
Training and Development
  • Assist with the establishment of an in-house employee training system that addresses the company's training needs including training needs assessment, new employee orientation or onboarding, management development, production cross-training, the measurement of training impact, and training transfer
  • Provide necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, and standardized reports
  • Employment
  • Manage the recruitment process for exempt and nonexempt employees and interns using the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce
  • Conduct the recruiting planning meetings when needed staff is identified
  • Review resumes for all candidates and interview nonexempt and exempt, when assigned, candidates for employment
  • Serve on employee selection committees or meetings

Employee Relations
  • Assist with the development of Human Resources policies for the company with regard to employee relations
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws
  • Recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
  • Participate in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth
  • Advise managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the company
  • Counsel managers on employment issues.
  • Assist with the implementation of company safety and health programs. Track and post OSHA-required data and files reports.

  • Comply with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth. Maintain minimal company exposure to lawsuits
  • Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations

Organization Development
  • Assist with the carrying out of a company-wide process of organization development that addresses issues such as succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, organization design, and change management
  • Assist with employee communication and feedback through such avenues as company meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction surveys, newsletters, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and Intranet use
  • Helps to monitor the organization's culture so that it supports the attainment of the company's goals and promotes employee satisfaction

Requirements for the Human Resources (HR) Generalist:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, preferred focus in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent
  • 3-5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) certification preferred, not required
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
