Our client in Worcester, MA is seeking an Inside Sales/Customer Service Representative to join their team. In this contract-to-hire role, you will be responsible for selling products and services to customers by handling incoming customer requests received via phone, email, and fax. Your duties will cover all activities relating to order fulfillment, including initial and ongoing customer contact, quoting, order entry, placement of orders with suppliers, issuing order confirmations, expediting, order tracking and returns processing. Responsibilities for the Sales/Customer Service Representative:
  • Prepare quotes for outside salespersons and potential and existing customers
  • Request pricing from vendors and determine best price to quote the customer, adhering to targeted and minimum gross margin percentages
  • Place and confirm customer orders and inform customers regarding changes to their orders
  • Handle cancellations or changes in sales orders and communicate the changes to the related departments
  • Expedite all orders as required
  • Review all terms and conditions before placing orders
  • In charge of vendor relations including: obtaining product information and quotes, billing issues, returns, order confirmation, order changes
  • Obtain RGA’ s (return goods authorization) for returned products and expedite the return of order materials and processing of replacement orders
  • Follow up on customer quotes and processing of repair requests
  • Handle any related customer complaints
  • Prepare documentation and reports for sales and returns as needed
  • Collaborate with outside salesperson and inside sales manager to determine essential strategic approaches for sales department
  • Attend sales group meetings
  • Attend training programs to develop product knowledge
  • Participate in special projects and procedural reviews as needed
  • Report on sales activities at sales meetings
Requirements for the Sales/Customer Service Representative:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree or some college preferred
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in small company environment
  • Distribution company or purchasing background preferred
  • Strong customer service and problem solving skills
  • Mechanical aptitude, experience with industrial equipment desirable
  • Self-motivated learner able to handle multiple priorities
  • Very well-organized with attention to detail and follow-up
  • Strong computer skills, including Windows, MS Office and data entry
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
