A Boston based investment management firm is seeking a Manager for their Investment Team Support which provides administrative support to the firm’ s investment team. In this role, you will report to the Director of Administrative Services and will be responsible for managing a team of approximately 15 analyst assistants. The ideal candidate is an experienced manager and leader with an understanding of and appreciation for operational and administrative support roles. Responsibilities for the Manager, Investment Team Support:
  • Attract, develop and retain talent; accurately assess performance, write and deliver performance reviews
  • Steward culture and create a positive employee experience while servicing business needs
  • Engage as a member of the management team, collaborating with manager and peers to lead the Administrative Services organization and collectively service the business
  • Provide an appropriate level of transparency and communication to the teams to enable their success and engagement
  • Maintain knowledge of the team’ s work, processes, and work-flows
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with peers across the firm and “ clients” of teams’ services
  • Develop and maintain effective feedback loops with “ clients” to solicit feedback about services provided and to ensure the teams are meeting their administrative support needs
  • Develop and maintain an effective meeting structure and communication forums with direct reports to ensure timely communication, effective management of priorities, exchange of feedback, etc.
  • Proactively identify training and mentoring opportunities to enhance the teams’ skills and understanding of workflows, up- and down-stream impacts of work, etc.
  • Ensure ongoing development and updating of administrative procedures and best practices
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate coverage and balanced workflow across support teams
Requirements for the Manager, Investment Team Support:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent with approximately 8+ years’ experience managing operational or administrative staff within a professional services firm
  • Demonstrated track record of strong management skills and leadership presence
  • Ability and desire to be both a manager and leader of people as well as an individual contributor, handling key projects for the team as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor and develop staff in a fast-past, detail-oriented environment; commitment to attracting, developing and retaining staff
  • Ability to steward a service-oriented, collaborative culture within the team and to be an exemplary role model 
  • A reputation for demonstrating integrity and commitment, maintaining discretion Proven ability to exercise exemplary judgment and think critically with strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent and clear communication skills, both written and oral
  • Outstanding thoroughness, attention to detail, and accuracy in work product
  • Ability to work independently while at the same time work effectively in a collaborative structure and with personnel throughout every level of the company
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment while maintaining superior time management, prioritization, organizational and multi-tasking skills, with a proactive and anticipatory attitude
  • Experience with process review and improvement; strong project management skills
  • Advanced level Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Bloomberg and other research services preferred
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
