Responsibilities for the Payroll Manager:
  • Responsible for the administration of payroll related activities in a rapidly changing internal environment
  • Serve as an effective partner and liaison with both internal/external stakeholders for all payroll related activities
  • Oversee the supervision of staff, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution
  • Direct and coordinate the flow of the payroll function including ongoing process improvement assessments
  • Work with various internal and external team members to provide guidance and feedback on payroll processes
  • Ensure compliance with HMFP payroll policies, and procedures, as well as all applicable state/federal laws with IRS regulations
  • Responsible for the administration of payroll transactions that are timely and in accordance with all applicable state/federal laws and IRS regulations
  • Provide info, assistance and or training to employees, staff, and the physician community
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on regulatory issues, assesses risk and exposure and works with internal teams and vendors to put practices in place that address new regulations and/or re mediate risk
  • Recommend and assist in developing and implementing new and/or revised policies and procedures to ensure efficient processing of the payroll and ongoing compliance with legislative mandates and statutes
  • Prepare a variety of correspondence, memoranda, statistical summaries, reports, documentation, and other materials related to the payroll function
  • Ensure that process documentation for payroll processing is up-to-date and that cross training for payroll process is in place
  • Play a lead role in recommending the design, implementation, training, and communication of system changes and upgrades
  • Participate in the development on contingency and business continuity planning
  • Maintain data integrity of payroll applications
  • Direct and support managers with functional area responsibilities
  • Undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews
  • Produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases
Requirements for the Payroll Manager:
  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’ s degree preferred
  • CPP: Certified Payroll Professional - highly desirable
  • 8-10 years related work experience and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience
  • Previous experience with multiple payroll vendors and leading system implementations and upgrades necessary
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting and the general ledger needed
  • Demonstrated experience developing and complying with internal controls
  • Strong proficiency in research, reporting and analytics
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point or Access and other web based applications
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
