Our client in Boston, MA is seeking a Rapid Home Specialist to join their team. In this contract-to-hire role, you will provide case management to clients enrolled in the Rapid Home program and assist enrolled individuals to move from homeless into housing as quickly as possible. Apply today!

Responsibilities for the Rapid Home Specialist:
  • Work with guests from homelessness through housing stability
  • Take the lead role in assisting clients in their housing search
  • Work closely with Case Managers and other programs to identify and outreach clients for program enrollment
  • Coordinate with landlords and clients during the Housing Placement process and be involved in lease signing and inspection
  • Assist clients in securing necessary household items, including food and furnishings upon move in
  • Stay involved in the tenant, landlord relationship throughout Stabilization Services and may act as a liaison between the two when necessary
  • Work closely with client to connect clients to programs and mainstream benefits
  • Link clients to asset development and work with them to increase their income and further increase their housing stability
  • Work within a best practice framework of Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-informed Care throughout engagement with clients
Requirements for the Rapid Home Specialist:
  • BSW, BA or BS in a human services related field - degree can be substituted for a high school diploma and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a social service setting
  • Certification, training, or formal education in counseling or case management
  • Valid MA Driver’ s License with an acceptable driving record for the last two (2) years to qualify to be an approved driver
  • Minimum of 2 years of Case Management/ relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering services to a challenged population often struggling with addiction and untreated or under-treated mental health concerns
  • Direct experience working in shelters or with homeless individuals
  • Strong computer and math skills, including familiarity with MS Word, Excel and ability to learn and successfully use MIS & HMIS programs
  • Excellent writing documentation skills
  • Experience producing written and statistical reports
  • Experience outreaching Landlords, or providing housing search and placement services
  • Practical experience in client assessment, negotiation, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, crisis prevention and intervention, household budgeting, rapid re-housing, landlord outreach and service planning, recovery services – including mental health, substance use/abuse and traumatic brain injury
  • Working knowledge of Housing First and Rapid Rehousing
  • Ability to lift and assist guests up and down stairs during difficult and/or emergency situations
  • Ability to respond safely and quickly in case of emergency situations
  • Ability to operate a 15-passenger van for work use
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
