Responsibilities for the Senior Disbursement Specialist:
  • Oversee the reconciliation of employee cash advances, reconciliation of vendor statement balances and system processes related to this function
  • Interact closely with many campus departments and process paperwork
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with Procurement Services, Financial Affairs and Human Resources for resolution of issues that cross functions
  • Provide internal and external problem resolution and assist with the identification and implementation of new or enhanced policies, procedures or systems
Requirements for the Senior Disbursement Specialist:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in accounting or business related field or the equivalent of Associate’ s Degree and 6 years’ experience
  • 4 years of experience working in Accounts Payable, preferably in a higher education or other similar not-for-profit setting
  • Prior knowledge/experience using ERP systems such as Banner, Peoplesoft or Oracle
  • Working knowledge of IRS compliance requirements relating to independent contractors, foreign taxation and other tax withholding and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills (listening skills, problem solving, confidence etc.), ability to multi-task and emphasis on customer service
  • Strong attention to detail and working with numbers
  • Ability to exercise discretion and handle confidential information
  • Must be a team player with a strong service-oriented attitude
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office
  • Some supervisory experience
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
