Our client in Boston, MA is seeking a Senior Payroll Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate of this contract role will have in depth knowledge of payroll wage and hour laws, federal, state, local tax laws as well as familiarity with all types of pre and post-tax benefits, 401K plans, and leave of absences rules and regulations. Responsibilities for the Senior Payroll Accountant:
  • Maintain payroll information by designing systems; direct the collection, calculation, and entering of data
  • Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
  • Provide payroll information by answering employee questions and requests
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; advise management on needed actions
  • Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Oversee timecard process and correct errors, handle garnishments and employee tax changes as well as other benefits adjustments
  • Act as a liaison with other business functions such as Human Resources
Requirements for the Senior Payroll Accountant:
  • 3+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment
  • Strong knowledge of Excel is required including formulas
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience supporting a minimum of 450 employees
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
