A top financial services company in Boston, MA is seeking a Senior Accounting Specialist to join their team. In this contract role, you will be responsible for accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements. This is a 6 month contract role that pays up to $23-$29/hr - apply today!

Responsibilities for the Senior Accounting Specialist:
  • Assist with all aspects of the general ledger process, including monthly closes, account reconciliations and analytics, in accordance with deadlines
  • Prepare journal entries for posting, ledgers and other accounting records
  • Prepare, reconcile, and analyze the general ledger and consolidated balance sheets
  • Work with reporting requirements and guidelines of applicable regulatory agencies to maintain records and prepare required financial reports
  • Provide financial analysis and maintains accurate accounting records to support team function
  • Assist in generating internal and external financial reports such as quarterly reviews and annual reports
  • Prepare special accounting reports for team leader and Accounting Manager
  • Assist with maintaining the accounting records and financial information
  • Support and work within firm-wide risk assessment standards
  • Perform analysis within the guidelines and policies established by Department Head and regulatory agencies
  • Interact with team leader regarding questions on responsibility summaries, capital tracking reports, and other financial information
  • Correspond with other departments to resolve problems and correctly account for and report financial information
Requirements for the Senior Accounting Specialist:
  • BA/BS in Accounting and/or equivalent job experience
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Accounting degree
  • General ledger accounting; experience with month end close, reconciliation, etc.
  • PeopleSoft experience preferred
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
