A large Boston based law firm is seeking a Staff Accountant for the Finance Department. In this role, you will report to the Director of Finance and your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the Firm’ s policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include petty cash, accounts payable support and other duties and projects as assigned. Apply today!

Responsibilities for the Staff Accountant:
  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly financial statements including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, A/R and WIP aging’ s and monthly financial summary
  • Distribute monthly financial reporting packages to the Executive Committee and Legal Department Managers
  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
  • Prepare and analyze various monthly account reconciliations
  • Initiate and process standard monthly ACH’ s
  • Record client filing fees charged to the Firm credit card
  • Manage petty cash for the Firm
  • Provide back-up for accounts payable and rush checks
  • Verify the accuracy of data on attorney scorecards prepared by the financial analyst
  • Assume additional tasks and projects as assigned
Requirements for the Staff Accountant:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Accounting
  • 2-3 years related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic general accounting principles and prior work experience with account reconciliations
  • Experience with Aderant or Chrome River preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Technology savvy with a strong knowledge working with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
