Responsibilities for the Staff Accountant:
  • Prepare monthly financial closing process, including preparation of entries and posting to the general ledger
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash accounts
  • Assist in the monthly analysis of certain accounts, both repetitive reconciliations (i.e. development versus accounting revenue)
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages to be distributed to senior staff
  • Coordinate with the accounting staff to ensure that accounts payable and cash receipts are processed correctly
  • Prepare grant reporting requirements
  • Assist with the preparation of reports for staff compensation matters, along with health care and flexible spending record keeping
  • Assist in the annual audit process and tax information gathering process
  • Assist with Bi-Weekly processing of payroll, including administration of time records of staff (including interns) and the proper processing of new hires and terminations
  • Participate as a team member in Foundation events and programs
  • Assist with administrative matters for the finance department
  • Perform special projects as requested by the CFO    
Requirements for the Staff Accountant:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years of solid accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), APD and Blackbaud Financial Edge software a plus
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
