A leading financial services company in Boston, MA is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. In this contract-to-hire role, you will be responsible for accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements. Responsibilities for the Staff Accountant:
  • Maintain the accounting records and financial information
  • Prepare and validate journal entries for posting
  • Check the daily proofs of the sub-ledgers to the general ledger
  • Perform daily/monthly/quarterly account reconciliations for the general ledger, sub-ledger house accounts and, where applicable, third party bank accounts
  • Perform analysis of revenue and expense accounts as part of the monthly closing of the books process
  • Maintain all chart fields in the general ledger
  • Participate in the testing and implementation related to periodic updates to the general ledger or the feeder systems
  • Assist in generating internal and external financial reports
  • Prepare reports to monitor and report on the Firm’ s and the subsidiaries’ capital and liquidity to ensure compliance with regulatory and Firm guidelines
  • Assist with the implementation of new regulatory reporting requirements, accounting policies, controls and system development
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting
  • Prepare and maintain procedures for all routine functions, processes and reports
  • Find opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency in performing tasks
Requirements for the Staff Accountant:
  • BA/BS degree in, Accounting or and/or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of work experience
  • PeopleSoft Skills desired
  • Exceptional communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong proficiency in Excel
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
