Responsibilities for the Vice President of Operations:

General Management:
  • Ensure all food safety, regulatory and customer specifications are met
  • Establish best in class manufacturing processes using Lean Manufacturing techniques to ensure maximum productivity and profitability in all areas of the operation
  • Develops operational standards for controlling expenses in the following areas:
    • Material variance, usage and yields
    • Production Scheduling
    • Labor Productivity
    • Reduction of waste
    • Equipment run time
  • Leverage metrics to evaluate the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to management
  • Review, analyze and recommend capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment and systems to increase efficiency and capacity of operations
  • Work with procurement to ensure optimal specifications of raw material, components and packaging
  • Establish inventory controls and review cycle counts to ensure accurate reporting
  • Develop annual manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, etc.
  • Ensures all manufacturing activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing manufacturing and processing business operations

Facility Management:
  • Develop working plan to ensure all facilities meet Company and regulatory standards
  • Negotiate favorable rates and manage all operations-related service providers
  • Work with inside team and outside contractors on preventive maintenance and repair of all Company owned or leased buildings, warehouses, plants and equipment

Organization Development:
  • Supervise Director of Operations, Operations Systems Analyst and VA Strategic Sourcing Manager
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, development and evaluation of all operations personnel
  • Develop internal talent to have leadership available for near-term and future staffing needs
  • Identify and addresses inefficiencies with operational personnel, management and cross-functional teams
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities, performance expectations and goals for each direct report in order to accomplish business objectives
  • Instill a performance-based culture, fosters appropriate teamwork and emphasizes collaboration and mutual respect
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Requirements for the Vice President of Operations:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree
  • 10+ years’ experience as a plant manager with multiple lines including, processing, assembly, cutting and packaging of fresh and frozen seafood
  • 5+ years at director level or above of seafood manufacturing and/or warehouse and facility experience within an organization with multiple locations
  • Experience leading teams (internal/external collaboration) and implementing key initiatives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills
  • Knowledgeable in contract negotiation
  • Experience with forming strategic alliances
  • Must have good working knowledge of operations financials
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety programs and quality assurance
  • Ability to manage a diverse work force
  • Demonstrated success in ensuring high levels of customer service, quality management and profitable operations
  • Demonstrated experience managing perishable goods manufacturing and production facilities 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office and hands-on experience with SAP preferred
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
